Very fortunate to have an incredible team on this one. We had Tony Baptist on drums (and of course Alex Nikitin on bass and The Witch on Guitar) – which are now complete in less than 2 days. We cranked out drums and bass for 6 songs and most of the rhythm guitars. Kallie Marie producing and working closely with engineer Paul Ritchie (Parlor Mob) at New Future Studios in Belmar, NJ. The vibe and level of expertise was a pleasure to be around. The sounds we’re getting have everyone amp’d up for this record and it’s just the beginning . That’s the way it should be. The studio is situated in a landmark house at the end of the road near the train tracks. It’s completely gutted giving it a loft like vibe, big live room and every instrument isolated so we could all play together to get that thunderous live energy on the record. The control room has teal couches, lava lamps and just enough 80’s warmth and glow to make yours truly feel right at home. It was super fun, felt like we were in the ZONE. We rented a room together and fell asleep to the rhythmic slams of the couple next door banging the night away. Kallie and Alex especially were entertained by this as I was trying to snooze. Had to put the children to bed and live to rock another day. Looks like we’re gearing up to do vocals all through October back at New Future Studios. The story begins and begins again. Love ERS.

Thank you to all the bands and new friends who contributed to the night – we made our donation to RestoreNYC which help to restore victims of sexual slavery. Any shows that we organize will be aligned with a charity of your choosing, so please let us know what you feel strongly about and we’ll go to work to help. We had great crowds and had a lot of fun. Shout out to our new friends Glass Crown, Lions at the Gate, Sledge Wolf, Set The Charge, Brother Z, Benchmark and all the fans old and new. We’ll be back again soon so sign up for the email list if you haven’t already. The donation has been processed, please tell a friend and get the word out! Next us is recording! Makes My Blood Dance headed to the studio next weekend with producer Kallie Marie at New Future Studios in NJ. Can’t wait to unleash our first record to you! Stay tuned. Much love, Evan, Alex and John.
We killed it last night at Kingsland with our friends in Ryder, Honeybomb and Sabrtooth. The place was packed and best of all my old time drummer and total pro TONY BAPTIST joined us on stage. Tony will be recording on our new upcoming record and we’ll see whats in store for our vacant drummer position going forward. Show could not have been better, we all pulled together and reinforced our mantra – THE SHOW MUST GO ON. ROKK!
I’m starting to see the light that all things that don’t feel good, aren’t necessarily bad for you. For example pushing yourself in the gym is painful but there’s a benefit. I believe this principle can be applied to a greater scope in life, mostly in achieving your goals and fulfilling your dreams. It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll. This is another nod to the same sentiment of taking and embracing the pain of getting to where you want to be, instead of only eyeing the goal, you’re in the process and enjoying it as we go. I hope you can apply this to some part of your own journey, I know what it means to me. Much love. ERS
It’s amazing to me how hard it is to finally enter a phase of serenity in life, to be in an environment and surrounded by love and then how quickly that can be disrupted by the right kind of button pushing. Once that happens, anyone can go to a dark place, especially me, and usually the person or event triggering it doesn’t understand. No one will take care of you except yourself. Know thyself, what you need and who is healthy for you. When you need time or space, take time or space, and try to connect with someone who does understand……by phone or meeting up or listening to music. There’s a million ways but it’s important to not carry that anger or negativity around, because it keeps multiplying. Had a good morning hugging that tree, now Im venting and calming down from someone who is consistently disrespectful. God Bless those who make an effort to respect others, show love and find balance. Oh and stop blaming your parents….you are your own person so take responsibility for how you treat people and be the person you want to be.
Mike Thunder Bear got a concussion from rough housing with 4 year olds at drum school. That’s the kind of education you get with a pro. Had to cancel rehearsal last night so John and I got out the magic spells and recorded some demos. Keepin’ the train rolling. Hopefully Mike has regained his marbles and we can rock out Monday night at club MMBD rehearsal batwing studios in Brooklyn. Let us know if you want to hang, we have a few couch spots left for lost witches. Peace ERS
